Over the past two weeks, I have had the opportunity to revisit an age old pronunciation question with many of my students.
How do you say the word… “WORLD?”
This is what I have said:
First, start by slowly saying, “We are old.”
Second, slowly say, “We’re old.”
Finally, slowly say, “World.”
You will notice that by creating a contraction between the words, “We” and “Are,” your tongue will slowly modify itself and create the proper sound that is needed to form (the second part of the word, not the second syllable), “old.” The word, “World,” is a one syllable word.
Try it and if you can’t quite get it, book a free 15-minute trial lesson and I will help you say one of the most difficult and frequently used words in the English Language. Or if you want to learn more about how to pronounce difficult letters and words, book a free trial lesson, and I can promise you that you will hear an improvement.
